Childbirth is a profound process of initiation. Preparing for childbirth begins long before you take a pregnancy test, take classes, or hire a doula. While there is much you can do to prepare for and learn about birth, pain, and the modern medical system, your birth remains ultimately unknowable. In Birthing From Within, we will work together to awaken a coping mindset, to encourage resilience, flexibility, and coping skills for you to navigate the great unknowns of birth and parenthood.
Class Topics include:
Physiology and stages of labor, pushing, birth, and postpartum
Birthing in our bodies (eating in awareness & nutrition, positioning for labor and birth, yoga, massage, laborland, pushing and birthing)
Choosing a Birthplace and Making Informed Decisions with Informed Consent
Exploring birth and the unknowns through Birth Art and storytelling
Pain-coping techniques using mindfulness, meditation, visualization, as well as the wise and compassionate use of drugs and epidurals
Welcoming Baby & Postpartum Adjustment (postpartum expectations and moods, planning for help and support)
Rituals and Celebration for the childbearing year
